Simone Biles

The gymnast Simone Biles captured her 20th world championship gold medal when Team USA won its seventh consecutive world title in Antwerp Belgium on October 4. She is now the most decorated female gymnast in the history of gymnastics with 33 medals at world competitions and the Olympics. Biles performed an extremely difficult vault just a few days earlier the Olympics, which was the first time a woman previously attempted in a stage of competition internationally. The feat, originally known by the Yurchenko Double Pike, has become known as the Biles II. The record-breaking gymnast who is competing in her first international competition since 2021, will be competing in an one-on-one all-around final in Oct. 6. Simone, born in Columbus Ohio in 1997 was removed from the house of her mother due to an addiction. Simone, along with her siblings were placed into foster care. Ron who was a retired Air Force vet and Nellie retired nurse helped care for Simone at the age of six years old. Additionally, they adopted their youngest sister Adria. Their grandmother took care of Simone's siblings who were older.
